"Teens, Drugs, Alcohol and Parties:
Getting to Best Practices in Your Community"
Wednesday, March 23, 2011
7:00 - 8:30 pm
TMS - Hawk's Nest
According to Michael, it's a rare day that parents of teens don't wonder about drugs, alcohol and parties. Most parents want to know specific information about what they should tell their adolescents in order not to have them do certain things, (e.g., go to a party, smoke too much, get drunk, not have unsafe sex or not have sex at all.) Some parents want to know specific information about drugs or alcohol or driving under the influence. And still other parents feel that their own kids aren't engaging in drug use or party-going, but they still feel nervous about those things or nervous that their kids will be or are involved with others who do use drugs or go to parties. During the evening, parents will learn just what is at stake in dealing with the issue of parties and drugs.
Michael has a background in adolescent counseling at independent high schools and is a psychotherapist in private practice for more than 15 years. He is also the founder of Practical Help for Parents, speaks locally and nationally on parenting teens, and is currently writing a book about teens and status.
